12th International Conference on Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics of Infectious Diseases

Dec. 11-13, 2014 at The Royal River Hotel, Bangkok

The leading conference on the molecular evolution of all pathogens: viruses, pathogenic bacteria, fungi, parasites and prions. MEEGID XII will give special emphasis to health problems of South East Asia through plenary lectures, specialized symposia, and poster sessions.

Special emphasis (through plenary lectures and symposia) will be given to health problems of specific interest to the Southern world in general and South East Asia in particular: Asia: dengue, H5N1, SARS, AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, leishmaniases, cattle and crop pathogens. Plenary lectures and symposia will also deal with transversal topics such as population genetics, evolution, species concepts, bioinformatics, whole genome sequencing analysis and phylogenetic character mapping. The congress is open to proposals of conferences and symposia.

Communications on genetics, genomics, proteomics, population biology, mathematical modeling and bioinformatics are welcome. They may deal with the host, the pathogen, or the vector in case of vector-borne diseases. Papers considering host + pathogen or pathogen + vector (co-evolution) are strongly encouraged.  All pathogens are within the scope of MEEGID, including viruses, parasitic protozoa, helminths, fungal organisms and prions. All infectious models can be considered, including those of veterinary or agronomical relevance. For the first time, MEEGID XII will welcome papers dealing with cancer and infectious diseases, considering the high interest of this topic.

Selected papers communicated for MEEGID XII will be published in a special issue of Infection, Genetics and Evolution.

During the conference, awards will be attributed to the best communication, the best communication by a student, the best communication by a scientist from the Southern World and the best poster communication. Each prizewinner will be offered a free 2-year subscription to Infection, Genetics and Evolution.

Submissions are invited on the following conference topics:

  • Genetics, genomics, proteomics, population biology, mathematical modeling and bioinformatics. Submissions can deal with the host, the pathogen, or the vector in case of vector-borne diseases
  • Host + pathogen or pathogen + vector (co-evolution)
  • All pathogens, including: viruses; parasitic protozoa; helminthes; fungal organisms and prions
  • All infectious models, including those of veterinary or agronomical relevance
  • Cancer and infectious diseases
