“GREASE participates to the geographical partnership strategy of CIRAD, centering on the implementation of research and training platforms in partnership”.

The core members of the network consist of national research centers in the fields of Animal Health and Agriculture in Thailand (KU), Vietnam (NIVR), Laos (NUOL), Cambodia (NAVRI), The Philippines (CMU) and Indonesia (UGM), involved on a long lasting partnership with CIRAD (France) in Southeast Asia.

Associated partners also participate in the network through diverse collaborations for the implementation of Research Projects or Workshops and Trainings activities: Pasteur Institute in Cambodia, Thammasat University, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Mahidol University in Thailand, IRD and CNRS in France and Southeast Asia, OIE and FAO-RAP in Southeast Asia and University of the Philippines Los Baños in Philippines. Other research institutions from Malaysia, Singapore, and Southern China may join the network in 2014.

Core members

	CIRAD (Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement) is a French agricultural research centre working for development in developing countries and French overseas region. It has a mandate to contribute to sustainable development through research, trials, training and the dissemination of scientific and technical information. For recent years, some collaborative research projects have been conducted between Cirad and other Partners on epidemiology and ecology of Transboundary Animal Diseases and Emerging Animal (including zoonotic) Infectious Diseases in the sub region. Cirad considers that this partnership is a strategic and a priority one among its many activities in the world. 	Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. UGM is developing multidisciplinary collaborations to achieve its vision and mission.
	Kasetsart University (KU) is a university devoted to the task of accumulating and developing intellectual knowledge in Thailand. 	National Institute for Veterinary Research (NIVR) is a Vietnamese national institute in charge of Research and Training in the field of Veterinary research.
	The National University of Laos (NUOL), Faculty of Agriculture (Nabong campus) is a national institute in charge of Teaching, Research, and Capacity Building in agriculture and Consultancy.
	The National Animal Health and Production Research Institute (NAHPRI) is a Cambodian national institute. NaHPRI's mandate is to conduct surveillance and research activities, investigate disease outbreaks and consolidate information on all issues related to animal health and food production and safety under the General Directorate of Animal Health and Production (GDAHP)

Mahidol University is a higher education organization university offering a multitude of programs in diverse fields of study and being one of the country's top-ranked universities. it is opened to the world thanls to the internationalization of its teaching/learning and training through exchange of faculties and students, collaboration with overseas partners, and publication of research papers in international journals.
	FAO-RAP in Southeast Asia. The Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific is located in Bangkok. Its mission is to help member countries halve the number of undernourished people in the region by 2015 by raising agricultural productivity and alleviating poverty while protecting the region’s natural resources base. Its multidisciplinary teams were built around three core areas: (a) agricultural production systems; (b) economic, social and policy assistance; and (c) natural resources and the environment.
	IRD in Southeast Asia. The IRD (Institut de recherche pour le développement) is a French research organism, original and unique on the European development research scene. Emphasizing interdisciplinarity, the IRD has focused its research for over 65 years on the relationship between man and its environment, in Africa, Mediterranean, Latin America, Asia and the French tropical overseas territories. Its research, training and innovation activities are intended to contribute to the social, economic and cultural development of southern countries. The IRD has been present in Southeast Asia since 1985.
	OIE in Southeast Asia, The World Organisation for Animal Health is the intergovernmental organisation responsible for improving animal health worldwide. Its objectives are to ensure transparency in the global animal disease situation, collect, analyse and disseminate veterinary scientific information, encourage international solidarity in the control of animal diseases, safeguard world trade by publishing health standards for international trade in animals and animal products, Improve the legal framework and resources of national Veterinary Services and to provide a better guarantee of food of animal origin and to promote animal welfare through a science-based approach. The OIE Sub-Regional Representation for Southeast Asia (OIE SRR-SEA) is located in the compound of the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) of Thailand in Bangkok.
	Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU), Vietnam is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit based in Viet Nam. We are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. We also have sister units in Kathmandu, and Jakarta. As a Wellcome Trust Major Overseas Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991.
	Pasteur Institute of Cambodia (IPC), The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge is a research and public utility under the patronage of the State of Cambodia. It belongs to the International Network of Pasteur Institutes with whom it develops ongoing collaborations. The activities of the IPC are oriented towards biomedical research and surveillance of infectious diseases, in partnership with institutes and national centers for infectious diseases and hospitals. Research developed at the IPC are based on the diagnosis, biological characterization and molecular epidemiology of viruses (influenza, dengue, HIV …), bacteria (tuberculosis, salmonella, legionella, leptospirosis …) and malaria with particular emphasis on the identification and study of the mechanisms of resistance of these microorganisms to treatment. IPC, in cooperation with universities and vocational schools in Cambodia, promotes knowledge on infectious diseases for the benefit of public health through education and training in universities and for continuing education. IPC also provides a platform for comprehensive medical and biological analyses which is unique in Cambodia.
	Thammasat University, Thailand. Thammasat University aims to provide equal educational opportunity in the fields of Social Sciences, Humanities, Science and Technology and Health Sciences. The curriculum focuses on graduate study and international programs to produce graduates who are competent, committed to fairness, democracy and the public’s interests.
	Tropical Disease Research Laboratory (TDR), Khon Kean University (KKU),Thailand is an independent, interdisciplinary laboratory of Khon Kaen University (KKU) established in 2005 under the support of the Faculty of Medicine (by allocating 5 new laboratory rooms) and the International Collaborations in Infectious Disease Research (ICIDR) Program from NIAID, National Institute of Health (NIH), United States (who provided budget grant for equipments and research supplies). The laboratory is affiliated with the Division of Experimental Pathology, Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine

	Veterinary Public Health Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand is the knowledge and collaborative center for trading and safety of food originated from animals, animal diseases and cross border animal epidemics. VPHCAP is a self-dependent and international acknowledged organization.
