South East Asia (SEA) is a hotspot of both biological diversity and cultural diversity at threat. SEA remains highly vulnerable for the emergence of infectious diseases, and new health threats such as the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

The importance of biodiversity was the aim of a first Symposium on “Biodiversity and Health in Southeast Asia”, which was held at University of Health Sciences (UHS) Phnom Penh in Cambodia, supported by the CIRAD, IRD, CNRS, AFD and Fondation Merieux.

The 2nd Symposium “Biodiversity and Health in Southeast Asia” will be hosted by the Faculty of Tropical Medicine of the University of Mahidol and aims to better translate results of research to action. In particular, how research may help various stakeholders and policy makers to implement a better management of biodiversity (from genes to ecosystems) that will improve community health and well being while decrease risks.

The 2nd Symposium "Biodiversity & Health in Southeast Asia" is supported by the French ANR BiodivHealthSEA project, CNRS, IRD, GREASE/ComAcross and CIRAD.

The symposium is relevant to participants from Thailand authorities, regional and international institutions, non-governmental organisations, scientists, students from SEA Universities.
