CIRAD and Institut Pasteur strengthen their scientific cooperation

On 10 October 2012, Institut Pasteur and CIRAD signed a framework agreement to strengthen their international scientific cooperation.

Having a shared interest in the health issues in many developing countries, Institut Pasteur and CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development) decided to strengthen their international collaborations on infectious diseases and anthropozoonoses, particularly in terms of emerging pathogens and of the health and environment link.

The two establishments already cooperate effectively on concerted joint activities in Cambodia, Madagascar and Guadeloupe. Institut Pasteur and CIRAD are keen to develop this type of partnership to foster the development of interdisciplinary, transverse research in several areas of health in the South (Africa, Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, Caribbean and Indian Ocean).

To this end, the emergence of a scientific community will be encouraged through local collaborations, training and the development of common research platforms.
