GREASE Scientific & Steering committees meetings

Objective: to discuss the Perspectives and needs of the GREASE network.

Participants to the Steering committee:

The "core members" of the network consist of national research centers in Thailand (KU), in Vietnam (NIVR), in Laos (NUOL), in Cambodia (NAVRI), in Filipina (CMU) and in SEA (CIRAD).

Research areas and topics:

Scientific brainstorming is currently (2012-2013) ongoing in the framework of GREASE network in order to outline research and training priorities relevant for GREASE’s partners and members:

  • What are the key research questions that need to be addressed in order to tackle the WG interest?
  •  Which academic disciplines should be involved, which key institutions should be associated?
  • What are the specific training needs and offers related to these research and academic areas?
  • What are the key development stakes and challenges linked to these research questions? Then, which institutions and potential funders should be involved?
  • Which indicators to evaluate the research’s impact? 

This brainstorming is organized following 4 working groups

WORKING GROUP 1:

How to define interdependence between epidemiological and socio-economic systems in the frame of public health?

WORKING GROUP 2:

How to define the interactions between biodiversity and health?

(including animal genetic variability and resources, the quality of the products, value chain analysis)

WORKING GROUP 3:

How to apply risk assessment/risk analysis to rodent borne diseases data in order to evaluate zoonotic risks and its perception?

Institutions involved: CNRS, CIRAD, Pasteur, NIVR, IRD, AIT, KU, CMU, ICARD

How to evaluate and control animal diseases and zoonoses’ impact?
