Participatory Epidemiology Training Workshop “Training of Trainers” (PE TOT)

Last update: 1 July 2015

Sep. 30 - Oct. 4, 2013 at Kasetsart University Bangkok, Thailand.

In the framework of GREASE activities within the Participatory Research on Emerging and Infectious Disease in SouthEast Asia - (SEA-PREID) and in partnership with ILRI, we are organising a “training of trainers” participatory epidemiology training workshop.

The training workshop will be held in Bangkok, Kasetsat University (please see map in annex) from 30th September to 4th October.

This training workshop follows previous training activities implemented by GREASE in the field of Participatory Epidemiology: "Participative Epidemiology: Exploring a range of different approaches to participation" organized in June 2012 by GREASE in Bangkok and "ParticipatoryEpidemiology:training of practitioners" held in March 2012 in Hanoi with the support of GREASE and REVASIA project.

Under the supervision of experienced trainers from ILRI, participants to PE TOT training workshop will develop by themself a curse introducing Participatory Epidemiology. This curse will then be implemented in the framework of practical working sessions. Participants will then be evaluated by ILRI trainers, in order to obtain an official "PE trainer" certificate. Only « Practitioner in Participatory Epidemiology » certificated participants will be allowed to attend this training workshop.

The expected results of this training workshop are:

  • To explain and implement principles of a PE training session
  • To develop a full PE introduction curse for veterinary public health workers
  • To implement this curse through class and practical work sessions with PE practitioners trainees and supervise them in their field work.
