Development of a participatory tool for the evaluation of Village Animal Health Workers in Cambodia:
A study presenting a method based on participatory approaches to develop an evaluation tool to assess VAHW performance and level of activity in Cambodia.
The development of this evaluation tool was done through a series of meetings targeting VAHWs as well as the main stakeholders working in animal health systems in Cambodia. Several participatory approaches was implemented during these meetings (e.g. problem trees, semi-structured interviews, pair-wise ranking, focus groups), leading to a tool divided into five categories of evaluation criteria: sustainability, treatment, production, vaccination and disease reporting.
